Having survived domestic violence in her marriage, Madhavi, an Indian divorcee with a young and withdrawn daughter, Sonia, struggles to put the pieces of their lives back together. Once an up and coming traditional Indian dance performer in India, she now spends her alone time dancing on the beach before heading to work at the local supermarket.

 

One day, a chance encounter with an old friend will lead her and her daughter to a house gathering, where she is forced to re-live her painful and violent past at the shaming from another guest, causing her to respond in the most honest and powerful way  - one that will break new ground in her relationship with Sonia.
